Junior students training at Newcastle Goju-Ryu Karate Academy

Becoming a member

Three simple steps from your first free class to full membership — no commitment until you’re sure it’s right for you.

  1. 1

    Your free trial

We know everyone likes to try something before committing — especially children. So you can train with us free for a whole month (four classes) with no commitment and no catch. It’s the perfect way to see if karate is for you before buying any equipment or paying anything.

Just wear comfortable clothes — a t-shirt and joggers — and bring a bottle of water. To get started, join the waiting list and we’ll be in touch when a space opens.

  2. 2

    Your starter pack

If you decide to carry on after the trial, you’ll need the proper kit. You can pick up a starter pack at any point during your first month — everything you need to train, branded with the academy badge.

    Little Dragons karate starter pack
Ages 4–7 · Little Dragons £18–21 Karate suit, white belt & club badge
Juniors, teens and adults karate starter pack
Ages 8+ · Juniors, Teens & Adults £34–44 Karate suit, white belt, badge, sparring gloves & gumshield

    Payment setup

Once your free trial ends, classes are paid monthly by standing order through your own bank — no cash or cheques. We use standing orders rather than direct debits on purpose: you stay in control of the payment, not us.

Fees are spread over a 48-week year (so you never pay for the weeks we’re closed) and include all necessary insurance. Families get £5 off per month for each extra member.
